Our
STORY
Pesca Sustentable is a nonprofit organization founded in 2019 to work actively on the conservation of marine ecosystems and the strengthening of coastal communities.
Our story, however, does not begin there. In 2011 we began working with artisanal fishing organizations, public agencies and private companies on fisheries, environmental and oceanographic studies through our ECOS Research Center, which gave us first-hand knowledge of the realities of artisanal fishing across Chile. Building on that experience, we decided to take the step of forming a nonprofit organization, in order to work more directly and consistently with the communities that depend on the sea.

MISSION
Our mission is to lead and expand efforts to conserve the marine ecosystems of Chile and Latin America, applying an ecosystem-based approach that recognizes the sea as the livelihood of coastal communities. We work to ensure that marine conservation translates into better living conditions, stronger coastal economies and a future in which people's well-being and the health of the ocean advance together.
